"Practice makes perfect." How many of us heard this growing up? We heard it about everything from the instrument we were learning to making our beds to playing a sport. And it's true, when we practice something we get better at it. So why don't more of us practice our Christianity? Why do we think just because we've asked Jesus into our hearts we are going to automatically become more like Him?
In Psalm 119:34 David says:
"Give me understanding and I will obey Your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart."
And Jesus tells us in Luke 11:28:
"Jesus replied, 'But even more blessed are those who hear the word of God and put it into practice.'"
In order for us to become more like Jesus we must practice Him everyday. We practice Jesus when we are loving even though others are being unlovely. We practice Jesus when we stop the gossip train and instead choose to quietly slip away from that conversation. We practice Jesus when we show patience with that slow, elderly person walking in front of us instead of rushing past them. We practice Jesus when we bow our heads to pray over a meal in public rather than jumping right in.
How will you practice Jesus today?
Until next time,
God bless and keep you,
